Why Travel to the Philippines?

Last year, AIM sent a team of young missionaries to the Philippines to do evangelism, children’s outreach, and church-planting. We are sending another team this summer (click here to find out more) and would love for you to help us get the word out.

Aaryn Phillips, one of last year’s participants, shares the following about the trip:

The Country
The Philippines is an amazing place to do ministry. The people are fantastic. Our main contacts were a newlywed couple, Sharon and Ruben; they work under the umbrella of the Cebu City Alliance Church. Sharon and Ruben are incredible. They work with several different church plants under the CCAC. They truly made an impact on my life, as they did ministry alongside us every single day.

Church Partners
Cebu City Alliance Church is awesome too. They are one of the few churches that I have been in that are really committed to reaching their community of all different people. The church is in the red light district of Cebu City, and it is also the second largest hub for Compassion International kids. They have church plants in several different slums all over Cebu, which includes reaching out to the community that is built on top of a grave site.

Ministry Opportunities

We did a lot of ministry with kids. We did lots of children’s programs and feedings that would easily attract 200+ kids. The first week, we worked in the church with all the Compassion International kids. They do an afternoon program everyday for the children to come and learn about Jesus, as well as life skills and creative arts teaching. They also feed the children and check in on them.

The rest of the time we were there, we helped Sharon and Ruben plant churches in a slum called Basak. We went into the school and shared the Gospel with over a thousand kids. We did programs in the streets, house visits, Bible Studies, and ended with a community movie the last night we were there.

Where You Stay

We stayed in a house the church owns and a few other college students live there. It’s very basic. You rely heavily on public transportation, which is kind of fun. It is a big city so you can find anything you can’t live without there.
