Heather Trimble experiencing the Philippines:
10. farm animals are more common along the side of the street than mailboxes are in the states. pigs…cows…goats… carabao…and they are so unaffected by the traffic passing at 70+ mph that it makes me nervous for them. another note on the filipino animal kingdom: i have seen pigs, cows, goats, carabao, and even chickens on leashes but have yet to see a dog on one.
9. speedometer? what’s that?
8. lazy-susans filipino style. how sweet would these babies be at your next holiday gathering??
7. most common question asked – regardless of if someone knows us or is meeting us for the first time: “are you single?” they then follow that up with…”so you are available, approachable, negotiable?” um, not so much…
6. 9 times out of 10 your dinner comes on a stick…and if not, it’s been cooked whole and is looking at you. 10 times out of 10, it tastes amazing.
5. our sink is IN our shower.
4. lane line dividers are purely a suggestion; rarely obeyed.
3. they start celebrating christmas during the first month that ends in “ber.” so you got it…bring on the christmas tunes in september, friends! and christmas lights are EVERYwhere… along with lit up nativity scenes on “stilts.”
2. fear averted: the rest of the world does indeed have fireworks, and they set them off pretty often! J like on christmas! rock on, i’m SO excited!!
1. becky found me a pumpkin spice latte! after searching high and low in three countries, we found the latte and running shorts in our beloved bohol! as long as i don’t have too many lattes, the running shorts will still be used for exercise and not latte maintenance.
nice hair-do, heather…nice. | ||||||
